Well, this week I have something interesting to share. I hope you find this insightful.
There are three types of personalities that rests with every person. They are:
1. AMATEURS
2. PROFESSIONALS
3.HACKERS
Now, the differences have very little to do with skill & a lot to do with Resolve & intent( Quoted by Seth Godin).
The amateur are the most excited ones who bring everything to the table with unfiltered joy. There is nothing that rests in their mind other than the joy to do , leaving aside the outcome of anything. The enthusiastic spirit to learn , to make mistakes, to fail , & to try everything from scratch is the most unique phenomenon of these kinds of individuals. There is really no other upside , its just creating your work because you can, because it helps someone else , because it makes you feel good. I term them as beginners.
They are very much mocked for their ignorance on various standards & technicalities , but the amount of passion they contain for any thing doesn’t match the best of swords. I consider myself to be one too. I understand its important to be knowledgeable , but this thought of just accumulation makes me sick. Honestly , how much is it that you can gather , it will fall short. So , its okay to realize that you don’t know, its okay to not be aware of the most popular songs, most popular music , most cherished personalities. I would not like to use the term ‘ignorance’ , rather it would be better to use it as ‘ LEARNING’, for this will be lifelong & just think if everything needs to be known then what’s the point of knowing.
SOCRATES quoted,” THE ONLY TRUE WISDOM IS IN KNOWING, YOU KNOW NOTHING”.
U.G KRISHNAMURTI quoted,” When you know nothing , you say a lot . When you know something there is nothing to say”.
Every other teaching , philosophy , psychology, science , arts, commerce survives in this same dimension where you are always moving in the pursuit of nothing from everything. Whenever someone ridicules for being #amateur or # immature , give them & yourself a smile, for you have a long way to go , but they are already finished.
The second type , PROFESSIONALS are the most committed ones. They are the ones who are the most responsible in their workspace. They show up even when he/she doesn’t feel like , for their discipline & commitment is what they live for. they understand the market,the customer, & the price to be paid for work that is worth paying for. They are balanced & does management better. They handle the amateurs who are full of vigour & the hackers who think themselves to be the best. They are a perfect energy that creates the synergy between the two. One of the key characteristics is their flexibility to know what to resist & when to adapt , believing change is the only constant.
SOCRATES quoted,” IT IS BETTER TO CHANGE AN OPINION THAN TO PERFECT A WRONG ONE”.
To have the understanding of when to say ‘ YES’ & when TO say ‘ NO’ is the most important observation of a professional.
Now , the third type ‘ HACKERS’ are also professionals , but the difference is that they don’t care. These persons have a short term view & their priority is just to satisfy their needs, they just exists for their own benefits. They are able to do what the client asks , without regard for how it will impact the culture or his long term prospects. They are more interested in What to do rather than ‘How to do’ & ‘Why to do’. They are kind of self obsessed people who have invested so much in to their insecurities that rather than creating any difference they become a different individual in both their personal & professional space.
“ NARCISSISTS WILL NEVER TELL YOU THE TRUTH. THEY LIVE WITH THE FEAR OF ABANDONMENT & CAN’T DEAL WITH FACING THEIR OWN SHAME. THEREFORE THEY WILL TWIST THE TRUTH, DOWNPLAY THEIR BEHAVIOUR, BLAME OTHERS & SAY WHATEVER IT TAKES TO REMAIN A VICTIM. THEY ARE MASTER MANIPULATORS & CONARTISTS THAT DON’T BELIEVE YOU ARE SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE OUT THE DEPTH OF THEIR DISLOYALTY.THEIR NEEDS WILL ALWAYS BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN TELLING YOU ANY TRUTH THAT ISN’T IN THEIR FAVOUR”
All these three personalities are very different from each other , but they have one trait in common, whatever they do , they do it with honesty , be it service or hacking. Even theft requires a lot of planning & organization, similar to utilizing one’s potential for giving service.
SERVICEABLE IS FOR HACKS. MEMORABLE & REMARKABLE BELONGS TO PROFESSIONALS & HARD-WORKING AMATEURS.- Seth Godin.
Remember : Action is important , but the emotion & the intention behind the action is what sets things apart.
